What is Google My Business?
Google My Business (GMB) is a profile product of Google, which influences how consumers search and look for directions. Unlike other reputation and profile websites, a Google Knowledge Graph, or a screenshot of the business, will appear in the right-side column of a Google results page (see image below). If these profiles are programmed to display, monitoring and updating a provider’s profile on this platform is essential for patients seeking care, contact information or directions.
How is Google My Business different from Healthgrades, Vitals, etc.?
Most individuals rely on the Google Knowledge Graph for instant contact information. If viewing on a mobile device, there is a Click-to-Call feature for instant dial and request directions via Google Maps app.
GMB is linked directly to a Google-search results page. When a consumer searches for a provider, that provider’s contact information appears in the right column of the results page, including an image. In addition, updating on Google Plus will reflect in Google Maps for GPS use.
